Mariam holds a First-class degree in Statistics & Economic from Makerere University, the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a Post Graduate and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Herriot watt University. She has attended Leadership programs with various institutions including Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria, Strathmore Business School and is accredited in Advanced Commercial Lending by IFS school of Finance in the United Kingdom.
Mariam has over 15 years of experience in Credit Risk management having worked with Barclays bank (Absa) and dfcu bank. She is a member of the League of East African Directors and serves as a Board member (Vice President) of CFA Society East Africa as well as one of the Founders of Muslim Hands Foundation, a charity-based organization.
Her experience spans Deal sourcing, Credit origination, Credit due diligence/ appraisal and credit approval. She has hands-on experience in structuring financial solutions for clients based on their business models and needs. She has developed and reviewed credit policies & lending products as well as credit risk assurance & model risk governance frameworks. She has provided advisory services on funding and credit risk matters in order enhance access to finance for investees/ borrowers as well as minimize shocks arising from changes in the macro-economic environment and sector trends for funders. She is an IFC Business Edge Certified Trainer and has delivered training workshops in finance and Investment for several clients within the region. Mariam is a Tutor for the CFA program.
