Amitesh is ACA, ACS and CPA (Maine, USA) with with over 15+ years of global cross-functional experience. Amitesh has proven track record in leading finance areas such as financial planning and analysis, investor relations, fund-raising, controllership, corporate finance, budgeting, business valuations, supply chain and risk advisory. Globally accepted education qualification with ACA, ACS and CPA (Maine, USA). He was most recently Head of Finance for LinkedIn India and Global CFO and operations head for one of the largest off-grid solar company prior to that.
Rocio Cavazos is a finance and impact investing professional with over 20 years of experience in commercial and investment banking, capital markets, impact investing and financial inclusion at organizations such as Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan Chase, ProMujer and Women’s World Banking. She is also founder of the Mexican Vegan Entrepreneurs Association (aevm.mx) and founder of Ananda Group (theanandagroup.one) which offers early-stage investment to plant-based businesses in Mexico and the US.
Rocio holds a BSc in Industrial and Systems Engineering from ITESM in Mexico and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Matthijs is an experienced Legal professional in development banking, impact investing and capital market transactions in our New York sector has been a former manager of legal affairs for FMO.
His expertise are in a wide range of subjects including structured finance, regulatory issues, debt transactions, securitisation, fund/direct investments, repo, bond issues, derivatives, and ISDA /CSA/CDS.
Mariam holds a First-class degree in Statistics & Economic from Makerere University, the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a Post Graduate and Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Herriot watt University. She has attended Leadership programs with various institutions including Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria, Strathmore Business School and is accredited in Advanced Commercial Lending by IFS school of Finance in the United Kingdom.
Mariam has over 15 years of experience in Credit Risk management having worked with Barclays bank (Absa) and dfcu bank. She is a member of the League of East African Directors and serves as a Board member (Vice President) of CFA Society East Africa as well as one of the Founders of Muslim Hands Foundation, a charity-based organization.
Her experience spans Deal sourcing, Credit origination, Credit due diligence/ appraisal and credit approval. She has hands-on experience in structuring financial solutions for clients based on their business models and needs. She has developed and reviewed credit policies & lending products as well as credit risk assurance & model risk governance frameworks. She has provided advisory services on funding and credit risk matters in order enhance access to finance for investees/ borrowers as well as minimize shocks arising from changes in the macro-economic environment and sector trends for funders. She is an IFC Business Edge Certified Trainer and has delivered training workshops in finance and Investment for several clients within the region. Mariam is a Tutor for the CFA program.
Arivazhagan G D
Ari holds his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the College of Engineering (CEG), Guindy, Chennai, and completed his Master’s Degree in Management from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, India. Since 2016, Ari also holds a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) charter from GARP, USA. He is also a recipient of the National Talent Search Scholarship Award from the Government of India.
With over 8 years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, and private equity, Ari has worked across stints in both debt and equity capital markets. A majority of his investment deals have been in impact space across Micro finance, MSME Finance, Education Finance, and Affordable Housing Finance. He has also handled cross-border M&A deals and well-versed in the valuation of companies. His expertise includes deal origination, due diligence, deal structuring, commercial negotiation, deal execution, and portfolio management. He also has a short stint as an entrepreneur. Ari was one of the top 100 nominees for the “Economic Times Young Leader” award in 2016 and has also received the “Protsaha” Award for 3 continuous years of social service. A multi-lingual person, Ari likes Traveling, practices Reiki Healing, and researches Astrology.
Brian has an MBA (Finance) from American University, Kogod School of Business, and a BA (Economics) from Kenyon College.
He is an expert in evaluating financial institutions serving low income clients including leading microfinance institutions (MFIs), banks, payroll lenders, and fintech companies.
Doris Mukuhi Gatari
Doris is a frontier market investment professional, with a comprehensive career in the investment management industry of over 10 years’ in listed and unlisted assets. She has hands on experience in spearheading and undertaking assignments in portfolio management, wealth management, business, product and strategy development and conducting fundamental research on various investment opportunities in the Equities, Fixed Income, Private Equity and Real Estate asset classes both in the East African and West African markets.
She is keen to work on responsible investment strategies and sustainable investments that will have a long term positive and tangible impact towards enhancing financial development, literacy, discipline and freedom in the developing economies and by extension globally.
Prior to joining SIMA, Doris worked with Madison Investment Managers as part of the Investment team and focused on Investment Strategy, Investment Management, Investment Research and Investment Execution. Before that she was at Britam Asset Managers and African Alliance (K) Asset Managers mostly working on performing due diligence on various investment opportunities, portfolio management and supporting the company business development initiatives. She has worked with a broad spectrum of clients both local and international, state corporations, listed and unlisted companies and private clients. Doris graduated from the University of Gothenburg with an MSc in Mathematical Statistics and is currently pursuing the CFA designation.
Erin earned a dual degree MBA (Finance) and MA (International Development) at American University.
Erin is a founding member of SIMA. Prior to launching SIMA, She was an Investment Officer at FINCA International in the Social Enterprise and Financial Innovation department where she collaborated with a team to develop FINCA’s engagement in the social enterprise sector.
Faiq Sattar Khan
Faiq Sattar Khan has an MBA from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, Pakistan and also holds a Textile engineer degree from National Textile University, Faisalabad, Pakistan.
Faiq worked as Business Planning Manager (BPM) and later as Product Manager (PM) at Habib Bank Limited-Islamic Banking (HBL-IB), Karachi, Pakistan.
Sarfaraz Anis Abid
Sarfaraz Anis Abid has approximately 10 years of experience in financial services, primarily within Capital Markets and Private Equity. Prior to joining SIMA, he worked as the Vice President / Unit Head – Structured Finance (Private Equity) at JS Bank Limited, where he has been involved in investment sourcing, analysis, negotiation, execution and post-investment monitoring – including representations on board level, taking part in strategic decision making and other portfolio matters – to achieve exit from portfolio investments. Previously, Sarfaraz worked as Assistant Vice President at JS Private Equity where he was managing a portfolio of 6 investments, including board level representations & strategy building. Sarfaraz commenced his career as an Equity Analyst at Global Securities Pakistan Limited analyzing a wide array of industries. Sarfaraz completed his MSc. Business Finance from Queen Mary, University of London.
Suhail holds MBA Finance from Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology and Masters of Economics from University of Karachi. He also holds professional qualifications such as Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD), CIMA Advanced Diploma-Management Accounting, UK, and Banking Diploma from the Institute of Bankers Pakistan.
He holds about 20 years of professional experience which includes 15 years of experience with various financial institutions including large local bank, foreign bank, and development financial institutions having core expertise in Credit & Risk Management. Throughout his career, he has been designated in various roles and remains involved in credit initiation & underwriting/approvals of almost all major segments such as Corporate, SME, Retail credits, Micro Finance Institutions, and overseas credit of Bahrain, UAE & UK.
With his Information & Technology expertise, he has also been an active part of developing, testing and implementation of various credit/risk management tools such as Obligor risk rating, Equity Scrip approval, Environmental Risk rating, Financial Spreads Models and Credit Package approvals.
Naveed is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and has 15 years of diversified industry experience at senior management level in the field of finance and audit. After completing his chartered accountancy training from Ernst & Young – Pakistan, he joined ORIX Leasing Pakistan Limited – the largest leasing company of Pakistan. Later, he worked as a Chief Financial Officer for a Modaraba (Islamic Fund) & the largest construction firm of Pakistan.
Naveed specializes in developing and implementing financial systems, strategies, processes & controls that significantly improve financial health of the company. Due to cross functional experience, possess extensive proficiency in corporate & legal compliances and a demonstrative record of focusing on value, corporate objectives and strategic planning to directly impact the success and growth of an organization.
Mohit Kumar Soni
Mohit has 6+ years of work experience in finance and investment banking. Prior to joining SIMA, he worked with Wodehouse Capital Advisors in transaction advisory services in both M&A and equity fundraising. Prior to that, he worked with Tata Capital as part of their core program team in supply chain finance and advisory vertical. His experience varies across the sectors such as Healthcare, Petrochemical and Energy.
Mohit holds his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jaipur and master’s degree in management from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. For leisure, he likes to read, play table tennis and travel.
Sanchit is a finance professional with 5 years of work experience in providing transaction and assurance services to global MNCs, private equity funds and start-ups. He is a Chartered Accountant from the ICAI, has completed all three levels of the CFA program, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance & Accounting from Christ University, Bangalore. Prior to joining SIMA, he was working with KPMG where he had the opportunity to manage client engagements across sectors such as Real Estate, Technology and Consumer Retail. For leisure, he likes to play football and regularly takes motorbike trips to different mountain ranges. He also likes to read about companies and actively follows Indian stock market.
Zain is a CFA Charterholder and a fellow member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). He also holds BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting awarded by Oxford Brookes University.
Zain brings with him about 10 years of professional experience with various financial institutions including local commercial banks, development financial institution and brokerage house. With core expertise in credit and risk management, Zain has been actively involved in various roles encompassing credit & investment appraisals, limit allocation & monitoring of market risk portfolio, risk modeling & analytics, Basel reporting, equity research and financial modeling.
Ahmed did his bachelors in accounting and finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi in 2017 and has cleared CFA Level II. Prior to joining SIMA, Ahmed was working as an equity research analyst at Intermarket Securities, a Karachi based financial firm.
Martha is a CPA (K) and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance major, from the University of Nairobi. She has developed interest in private equity and specifically impact investing over the past 5 years where she has had experience working with SMEs in Eastern and Southern Africa. Prior to joining SIMA, she was an investment analyst at Pearl Capital Partners with a proven record in deal sourcing, assessing businesses for investment, performing extensive due diligence, preparation of investment material including financial modeling, portfolio management and exit. Martha is pursuing CFA certification and is currently a CFA Level II candidate.
Faraz Hasan has completed his degree in Bachelors in Computer Science from SSUET with first division, & has been working in IT industry as a Senior Software Engineer for the past 2+ years. He has also got the team leading experience.
He loves nature and to serve humanity is his passion. He joins SIMA LLC as Website & IT analyst and to provide technical consultancy to his team mates/Customers. He will also promote company’s info through digital marketing.
Daim Ashraf is a graduate in Accounting and Finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA). She is designated as an investment associate and is inclined towards bringing a positive change towards the society, particularly in the education sector and elevating poverty.
Gaurav is an Investment Analyst at SIMA who holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai. He has also cleared CFA Level II exam in June 2019 and is currently a candidate for the CFA Level III exam. Prior to joining SIMA, he interned with an Investment Banking and an Equity Research Firm.
Ida Mwangi holds a bachelor’s degree in Financial Engineering from Strathmore University, Kenya and is a qualified CPA(K). She has previously worked as an equity research analyst intern at Old Mutual Investment Group, Kenya. Away from work, Ida is a passionate writer, an avid reader, a travel enthusiast, and a researcher of the Kenyan culture.
Kunal Vidhani holds a Degree in Accounting and Finance from Institute of Business Administration Karachi, Pakistan and has cleared CFA Level 1. He likes doing Financial Analysis and Modelling. He was an office-bearer at the IBA Student body and run the student council as a Chief Financial Officer.
He is a fun-loving person and likes to spend his time with family and friends. He has traveled throughout his life and lived in 5 different cities. He started his career journey with SIMA as an Intern and now working as an Investment Associate.
Ngugi Njau holds a degree in Financial Economics from Strathmore University, Kenya. He joined the team from Kuramo Capital, where he conducted buy-side analysis of opportunities in the agriculture, retail and financial services spaces across Sub Saharan Africa. Ngugi is passionate about using his financial modelling and analysis competencies to foster development in underprivileged communities across Sub Saharan Africa.
Hira holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting & Finance from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, and was the Gold Medalist of her batch. She received a Merit Scholarship at IBA in recognition of her place on the Dean’s List. She has cleared the CFA Level 1 and FRM Level 1 exams and is now preparing for the subsequent levels. Hira is also the APAC Regional Winner of the CFA Institute’s Ethics Challenge 2020.
She has previously interned at KPMG in Deal Advisory, and has experience in advisory, equity research, global investments and legal consulting through various internships. She has also been the Public Relations manager of a social enterprise focused on women empowerment.
Deeply interested in community development and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, Hira was the President of the IBA Chapter of the United Nations Association of Pakistan (UNAP). She now holds a volunteer position at UNAP where she assists in various projects related to climate change, education, and policy advocacy. In her spare time, Hira plays table tennis, reads and tries to learn Turkish.
