CFO/Finance Manager

Social Investment Managers and Advisors LLC (SIMA) www.simafunds.com seeks to hire an experienced and entrepreneurial Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our Finance Team and support our firm’s expansion. SIMA is a growing and new generation impact investment manager managing over $400 million in 5 investment funds with over 130 portfolio companies in 28 countries. We have 65 staff, primarily located in Asian and African emerging markets. We continue to develop our business lines; international investment funds, operating companies, advisory services, fractional CFO business, and charitable foundation. The CFO should be based in Pakistan. The role includes financial management of several entities including SIMA (US-based LLC with international operations), international investment funds (Europe-based with international investors; investees and operations in emerging markets), operating companies (in Pakistan and US), an emerging fractional CFO business (US based), a US charitable foundation, special projects, and other areas. The CFO works primarily with SIMA’s Management, Investment Teams, Risk Management Teams and operating companies. The CFO will also provide fractional CFO services, and training and development both internally and externally.

Financial Controls and Management Reporting

  • Lead finance, accounting, treasury, and financial reporting functions for SIMA; for the Funds we manage; for operating companies (Asaan Ghar affordable mortgage company in Pakistan; and Sow Good Investments LLC in US); for our emerging fractional CFO business; and for special projects as needed. Supervise internal finance team (currently 7 staff) at SIMA and at operating company in Pakistan.
  • Participate in decisions and strategic planning as member of the executive team.
  • Present financial information internally and externally for fundraising, raising of equity, etc.
  • Coordinate with counterparties including institutional investors, fund administrators, banks, borrowers, auditors, FX counterparties, consultants, etc. for smooth operations.
  • Review revenues, expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities. Work with vendors.
  • Report timely to investors, regulators, grant providers, other stakeholders.

Audit and Tax Compliance

  • Manage audit of SIMA, Funds, operating companies, etc. and resolve queries.
  • Coordinate with tax advisor, make filings for funds, SIMA, operating companies, etc.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Analyse financial data, identify trends, areas for improvement, make scenarios/ projections.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections for SIMA, operating companies and related entities, for senior management and board approval.
  • Support advisory functions, provide strategic financial insight internally and externally.

Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable Management

  • Oversee quarterly invoicing, ensure timely receipt of payments, monitor overdues, etc.
  • Approve expenses, manage payrolls for SIMA and subsidiaries in line with requirements.

IT Project Management and Implementation

  • Lead finance-related IT initiatives, including automation projects with full-stack developers.
  • Provide guidance to IT team for system development.

New Business Development

  • Lead development of fractional CFO business, comply with regulations and reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, US-GAAP).
  • Build relationships with clients, investors, and others. Hire junior accountants as and when business grows.

Policies and Internal Controls

  • Regularly review and enhance financial and HR-related policies, ensure they are up-to-date and aligned with organizational needs and regulatory requirements, including SEC requirements.

Qualifications

  • A qualified ACCA or CPA with a minimum of 8 years of relevant finance experience.
  • Skilled in a range of financial control, accounting, reporting and budgeting and in presenting analysis and recommendations.
  • Strong background in financial services, banking and/or impact investing sectors. Technology and ERP implementation experience preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to manage diverse financial operations, coordinate with external service providers, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information internally to management and to external stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
