We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to join our team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working closely with legal and investment professionals.
Key Responsibilities
As a Legal Intern, you will:
- Conduct legal research on regulatory requirements, compliance issues, and industry trends affecting asset management.
- Analyze and interpret laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to the firm’s operations.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, including investment management agreements, vendor contracts, and service level agreements.
- Ensure contracts align with the firm’s policies, procedures, and strategic objectives.
- Support the compliance team in ensuring the firm adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Provide legal support on transactions, including fund formations, loan offerings, and other corporate actions.
- Assist in conducting due diligence and preparing transaction documents.
- Work closely with internal teams, including investment, finance, and operations, to provide legal guidance and support.
- Liaise with external legal counsel, regulators, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Maintain and organize legal documentation, including contracts, regulatory filings, and corporate records.
- Support the continuous improvement of legal processes and procedures.
- Assist in drafting and updating internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from a recognized university.
- Admission to the bar in a common law jurisdiction (or in the process of being admitted).
- Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in asset management, corporate law, or financial services.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
